Our Story
We are a family owned and operated pet crematorium. We live in, grew up in and are located in the Newcastle area. Our pet cremation services are offered in and around the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and The Hunter Valley areas. We understand that your pets are part of your family, are your loved companions and we know that it can be a difficult time when they pass away. We are compassionate, caring, we will treat your pet with the utmost dignity and respect whilst providing a professional and stress-free pet cremation service for the after care of your beloved pet.
Furry Friend Farewells grew from our hearts when we tragically had to say goodbye to a beloved furry friend Lennon at the age of 13. At the time we did not know too much about pet cremation as an option and the cost associated was too much for us to bare after all the vet bills. We were in the process of selling our home which made backyard pet burial out of the question. Unfortunately the cheapest option and most horrible was that Lennon was sadly sent away by the Vet Clinic. We were devastated to find out that our beloved Lennon had actually been sent to away to landfill.
Then when our second beloved elderly furry friend Bailey become sick we knew we wanted to have a more dignified and loving farewell for him when the time came to say goodbye. After researching the options available, including Australia wide, we could see there would be other families in our area that would have been faced with the horrible decision to dispose of their beloved pet because they either weren’t aware that pet cremations were an option or they couldn’t afford a more dignified cremation.
We decided to open Furry Friend Farewells to help other families have the opportunity to farewell their beloved pets and to be able to bring them home at a more affordable price, whilst still receiving a highly professional and caring service for the aftercare of their pet. We also offer various payment options that will suit our customer’s needs.
